analysis of artist's website & social media

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

In this post I will be analysing Angèle's official website and Instagram

when starting to think about making this post, I was telling myself who could possibly be an interesting artist to analyse? So as you might have noticed I have not thought of 20 thousands different people and thought strategically. what is best then analysing your own artist from the song you have chosen? This is therefore why I have chosen Angèle which could only benefit my branding process of this A Level.

the websites...

I have done a video record of what can be seen on Angèle's website and boutique site

as seen above.

there are a few things to consider when analysing and breaking down a website, these are the following:

  • colour

  • font

  • wording

  • choice of image

  • design/layout

  • use of social media links

I will therefore be breaking down these key aspects...

COLOUR

it think that it is important to analyse and note the common colour scheme that the artist has decided to associate herself with and therefore brand herself to.

As we can see looking at both of these sites, the common colour combination is pink and blue. This in my opinion was not done randomly or because Angele and her team like these colours, I believe that she truly wanted to break the stereotypes of pink being a girl's colour and blue being a boy's one. This could also link to her largening her target audience and not necessarily basing it on a particular gender but rather who can recognise themselves in the songs she produces.

FONT/ WORDING

the font used in most of these websites are relatively similar. the similar font of italic capital letters show up commonly. This would be done for the sole purpose that it is easier read and the message is simple and easier read. I would say that the fonts are generally kept traditional. When it comes to the wording, the wording plays a big part of the advertisement of the websites. I think that it is important to quote that everything is translated into English but kept in French in the first place. This is also something to consider as Angèle is a Belgian artist who primordially speaks French but has a wider target audience group. This therefore helps to include everyone and make them feel involve.

CHOICE OF IMAGES

these images were taken from the official website which carries Angèle. I really like this selection of images which primordially advertise Angèle as a singer. The colour palette is very much flexible and we can encounter many different colours which in my opinion reflects herself as an artist. I believe it is important to take into a count that Angèle wanted to portray herself as many different aspects of herself, to really show the different personalities she shows off, which is to attract the largest amount of target audiences possible. In these pictures you can see an Angèle that's more girly like the picture seen in the middle, which portrays her more feminine side, in contrast to the Angèle that's on the left who's dressed up rather laid back and sitting in a way that would not necessarily be seen as the "Ladylike" position. This in my opinion would reflect this side of her that is very much feminist which is very clearly shown and portrayed.

SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS

as commonly done, Angèle's site has her socials linked at the bottom of her page. having the common socials which you can see below... I will furthermore analyse them.

Starting off with INSTAGRAM...

as seen above you will be able to watch this small video recording which I have taken showing you Angèle's instagram.

I will start off by saying that in my opinion the first impression and feeling I got looking at her page was that it felt very much homely and welcoming.

they're are a few aspects that make me feel that way; the first one being a big aspect that it is very much natural. Angèle posts picture like we can see as the last one that are very much professional and taken to represent an event or advert but contrast greatly with the second to last one which is a pic taken by herself that anyone could possibly send to their friends. This is key to note as not only does she makes us relate too herself but it also makes us feel closer to her, and connected like were part of her friends. This furthermore makes her seem very much laid back and natural which is big movement on the media at the moment. the idea that you don't care what you post is something very much present in our society today. This in my opinion is very much positive as she portrays to her younger audience group that everyone is the same famous or not we all have our flaws, enhancing a sense of good role model to her younger audience who may well be feeling oppressed by the media.
